The Ox

Poshaka's are represented by the ox because like an ox, Poshaka's tend to be devoted, steadfast and agreeable, gracefully accepting the demands of its master. 

Devoted

The Ox is hardworking, disciplined and is a devoted laborer in service to its master. The Ox never questions its path nor does it seek autonomy from his master. It is very reliable is driven by loyalty, often working beyond exhaustion without complaint.

 

Steadfast

The Ox is calm and steady and the epitome of steadfast dedication, willingly yoked to the plow and committed to its work without question. 

 

Agreeable

The ox is patient, loyal, cooperative, and willing to serve. It is extremely patient and agreeable, moving steadily forward, relying on routine.

Sanskrit Meaning

The Sanskrit word पोषक (Poṣaka) can be broken down as follows:

"पोष" (Poṣa) is derived from root puṣa "to nourish, grow or support"

क (Ka) – Symbolizes action, doing, or one who performs a function, indicating the active role of a nourisher or supporter.

Poṣaka essentially means "one who nourishes, strengthens, and sustains."

Poshaka's Superpowers

Poshaka's possesses unbreakable patience, carrying burdens without complaint and standing firm through life’s storms. Their unstoppable endurance allows them to plow through hardship, embodying resilience and tireless devotion to duty. With unyielding willpower, they never give up once they commit, making them an unwavering force of strength. While they serve selflessly, their immovable resistance means that if they refuse to move, no power on Earth can force them. Whether nurturing, working, or standing his ground, Poshaka’s ultimate power is his steadfast soul—loyal, enduring, and deeply connected to their duty.

Poshaka in Different States of Mind

The Poshaka type belongs to the category of Supporters, who are typically in a tamasic (passive) state of mind. However, the human mind naturally shifts between the three gunas: sattva, rajas, and tamas. See how the Poshaka's mind manifests in each of these states.

Sattva 

Peaceful. Clear.

Steady, peaceful, and deeply devoted, he serves with patience and wisdom, embodying Dharma and selfless effort. Depicting the quintessential devoted nurturer, the Poshaka is a reflection of quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and spiritual grounding. 

Rajas 

Passionate. Active.

They tend to be tireless workers – driven, determined, and full of energy. They push forward relentlessly, embracing hardship with grit. Their stubborn willpower makes them an unstoppable force, focused on duty and survival.

Tamas

Passive. Confused.

They are slow-moving, resistant to change, and stubborn. Their devotion can sometimes lead to feeling overburdened, as the ox does not always recognize when to step back, making it vulnerable to exhaustion and blind obedience.
